The University of Michigan has added a taste of paradise to “The Big House.” Maui Wowi franchisees Mark and Laura Kemp of Royal Oak, Michigan have recently signed a contract with the university to bring fresh made fruit smoothies to its well-known football stadium.
The University of Michigan, or U of M, stadium is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and is known as “The Big House” to football fans. It is the largest stadium in the United States with a capacity of 107,601 occupants and is home to the Michigan Wolverines college football team.
With increasing demand for healthy beverage and snack options at festivals, sports arenas, and large entertainment venues, Maui Wowi hopes to satisfy fans with all-natural, gluten-free, fresh fruit smoothies. For Mark and Laura Kemp, who became franchisees in March 2012, one of the things that initially got them hooked on the brand was the quality of the product.
“Maui Wowi is blessed with being able to accomplish both taste and health; not too many products out there can offer that,” said Mark.
Today, Mark attributes the high quality of Maui Wowi’s smoothies for helping them land the contract with the University of Michigan.
“One of the driving forces for our success in getting into the University of Michigan was to show them that this drink is not only very good tasting but is also a very healthy alternative for their fan base,” said Mark.
The couple currently has three mobile carts in their fleet that will be available at the venue. The Tiki hut inspired units are versatile enough to easily transition from using them at a community farmer’s market one day, to rolling them into the largest stadium in the country the next. With Mark and Laura’s Maui Wowi business growing quickly, even more carts and more venues are sure to be in their future.
Through perseverance, Mark and Laura have entered a new and exciting phase. They have gone from working community events and catering to now serving a captive audience in the thousands. They plan to continue expanding their business with new opportunities to spread the Aloha Spirit one sip at a time!
