Now that 2019 has come to an end, we believe it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on the growth and change our franchise – and our franchisees – have experienced. Join us as we take a look at some of our franchisees’ impressive stats and event highlights from the past year and, of course, some excitement for the future.
New Franchisees
Last year, Maui Wowi was proud to welcome 10 new members of our ‘ohana. New Maui Wowi franchises stretch from Sacramento, CA to North Carolina. They’ve completed training and launched their business, all with the help of our other wonderful franchisees supporting them every step of the way.
More Events Than Ever
Many of our franchisees worked more events with their Maui Wowi business than ever before. Jamie Kotek of Minnesota reported the most events in 2019 with 195. Not only is that number itself a huge accomplishment, but it is also a 30% increase over his 2018 number. Congrats, Jamie!
Additionally, Mitch York of New York City came in at a close second, reporting 193 events in 2019, which was 15% more events than 2018. Mitch’s growth is due partially to capitalizing on the catering events of small colleges across the Northeast.
Expanding Maui Wowi Businesses
In 2019, some Maui Wowi franchisees chose to grow their businesses. In fact, several of our newer franchisees purchased additional Ka’anapali Carts immediately after training. K-Cart 101 (and 102!) must have had quite the impact! Franchisees also grew their businesses beyond K-Carts last year. One of our franchisees in Bakersfield, CA expanded her franchise business with a food truck that has success with local events – like farmers’ markets.
Another one of our franchisees expanded their business with a brick-and-mortar store. And it’s proven to be quite successful. In fact, it’s become one of our most successful stores in the mere months it’s been open. If you ever find yourself in snowy Loveland, CO be sure to swing by the Maui Wowi drive-thru for a taste of tropical paradise.
Exciting Events of 2019
This past July, Maui Wowi made a trip to Hollywood! We brought our delicious smoothies and Hawaiian coffee to the cast and crew of Days of Our Lives. Our delicious and refreshing treats even made the Instagram pages of actors Galen Gering, Deirdre Hall and Mary Beth Evans, along with Camila Banus’ Instagram story. This bit of public relations was extremely positive and exciting. Thanks to our national marketing team and Southern California franchisees!
We also had a great National Coffee Day and Cyber Monday promotions that offered 50% off of Hawaiian coffee nationwide. Plus, we launched two limited-time offers in 2019: the vanilla lavender and honey cinnamon lattes. We were also proud to launch our iced tea program, introducing topical hibiscus tea and black tea varieties. Maui Wowi also added to our Hawaiian shave ice flavors.
