When one cart just isn’t enough, get another! Franchisee Larry Gerber in Erie, Colorado has been a franchisee since June of last year and has been piling on the events. He and his wife Patrice, have been building connections with people in their immediate community, in addition to the surrounding areas. Most recently, Larry has been working to get a contract with a venue that has a four field complex, which hosts girl’s fast pitch softball and other sporting events from April through September. During the process, he realized one cart wasn’t going to cut it.
“A second cart is needed because I’m running across more events than I can handle with just one cart,” said Larry. “While one cart will be busy at the sports complex, there are so many other events I want to serve at, such as Farmer’s Markets, concerts in the park, wrestling and soccer tournaments, car shows, street fairs, and so much more.”
The list goes on and on but Larry is sure to point out that while this expansion of his business is necessary, he still wants to keep it relatively small and stick with two carts for now. This allows him to maintain a flexible work schedule, giving him the freedom to travel when he wants, reduce his stress level, and ensure the business continues to be a fun aspect of his life.
Instead of retiring, Larry decided to embark on a ‘second career.’ His goal is to use this chapter of life as a way to continue growing as a person and building his self-confidence, while exploring new talents. He says the best part is the smiles, relationships, and the fun that comes from serving a “vacation in a cup.”
“The children’s smiles when they get their smoothie are priceless,” said Larry. “When people who just bought a smoothie end up coming back for another one because their spouse took theirs….that, equals even more smiles! The product sells itself.”
