It was nothing but smooth-ie sailing at the Grand Opening celebration for the new Maui Wowi coffee and smoothie shop in Chico, California. Franchisee Jules Jackson and her husband Dennis Lundy were fortunate to have perfect weather and a great turnout.
“The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony were very successful!” said Jules. “We held it outside and it proved to be the most beautiful day of the week.”
They kicked things off with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by local chamber members who came out in support of the new Maui Wowi location and spent the day enjoying all the activities.
There was a prize wheel, a VW photo bus, which was a blast for everyone, and they even called in a local singer/ukulele player who serenaded the party with authentic Hawaiian songs and jazz music. Jules says there were moments throughout the day where it was standing room only inside the store.
Guests enjoyed the free smoothie and coffee samples so much, many ended up buying one for the road!
“We had several customers wanting more than just the samples we were giving out. Plus, our coffee sales were great too!” said Jules.
Other giveaways included two drawings for a Tiki cup with free refills for 6 months and two baskets full of Hawaiian cookies, teas, coffees, t-shirts, and Hawaiian cups.
The success of the Grand Opening was the tipping point. Jules recently received an awesome review in the Chico News and Review, an independent news and entertainment resource. The reporter stopped by the store and shared her experience with readers.
“It was sweet to see the free and positive article regarding our store, product, and staff,” said Jules.
The Chico community has been very supportive of the new location. For future goals, Jules says she is reaching out to the local college and area schools to see how she can offer her coffee and smoothie services. She has also recently expanded her business with a Maui Wowi mobile cart to make it easy to transport and serve outside of her store at Chico community events.
