That’s the great thing about ‘ohana; they’re there when you need them. Franchisee Nicole Marsh, in New York, has put that notion to the test as she seeks advice to grow her catering business. With more flexibility and less guess-work, Nicole says it fits in with her lifestyle and allows her to spend more time with her kids.
“My children are young and at critical ages and grades in school, so my time at home is the most important. Catering has also been the most profitable for me, so it makes sense all around,” said Nicole.
But there’s still a lot to learn. Maui Wowi is unique in the fact that we are an ‘ohana that isn’t just a family but a resource. Franchisees can reach out to the Mainland (Headquarters) or to fellow ‘ohana members for advice and get answers to their questions.
“I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel- I wanted to know what works and what doesn’t,” she said. “I was looking for some honest, real-world advice.”
Nicole reached out to a longtime franchisee who has lots of experience with coffee catering, something that is new to Nicole. She has primarily done smoothies at events or catering gigs and was looking to delve deeper into coffee service such as offering iced coffee, iced lattes, frozen cappuccinos, and Hot Koko bars, in addition to hot drip coffee.
“They had so much to offer that I couldn’t type my notes fast enough!” said Nicole. “Information is priceless and I appreciate all the information I can get.”
The advice seems to have paid off. Nicole took that information and began implementing it into her services to get the most out of her catering business. She said she felt extremely confident as she prepared for her first non-smoothie catering event and when all was said and done, the clients absolutely loved it.
Maui Wowi offers an entire system of support that we call the ‘ohana (family). We have over three decades of tools and experience that are helpful in all areas of business. Maui Wowi is also a great resource for connecting fellow franchisees. If they are looking to speak with someone about their business but aren’t sure who, we can help connect them with the right person. It never hurts to ask for advice, especially when your ‘ohana is just a phone call away.
