This romantic destination is known as an ideal place for honeymooners with its relaxing atmosphere, unimaginable views, and small town feel. There are plenty of places for candlelit dinners, watching the sunset, and lounging on white sand beaches. With so much love in the air, Kauai can fall under the radar to some, but for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers, the Garden Isle is an island playground.
Its majestic cathedral cliffs that line the famous Napali coast reach staggering heights. An 11 mile hike along the Kalalau Trail can be found on the north side of the island that will take you on a journey up ridges, along coastline, across rivers, and to hidden waterfalls. The trail requires advanced experience and overnight camping is recommended. If you’re up for the challenge, be prepared and set out on an incredible voyage along one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines.
Put your head in the water and float along the coral reef to see an underwater ecosystem that is full of life and color. Tropical fish, Hawaiian sea turtles, and other marine life swim beside you for an eye opening experience. Ke’e Beach on the north shore offers some spectacular areas for snorkeling, as does Poipu on the south shore, known for the Hawaiian Monk Seals that reside in the area.
If you don’t have a fear of heights, test your fate on one of Kauai’s many zipline tours that take you high above the valleys at nearly 35 miles per hour. The views from 50-80 feet off the ground provide panoramas of the island’s rich plant and animal life, giving even more meaning to the name the Garden Isle.
If you love the rush of adrenalin, you might also be a fan of caffeinated beverages. Kauai is home to some of the best coffee growing conditions in the world and features the coveted Hawaiian coffee beans. A visit to the Kauai Coffee estate, located on the south shore of the island, will excite your senses and give you a whole new appreciation for your cup of Joe! Not surprisingly, Kauai is one of the places Maui Wowi gets its coffee beans from to create the smoothest, best tasting coffee you’ve ever had.
Great for honeymooners and adventurers alike, the island of Kauai is a hidden gem that offers more than meets the eye.
