It was a race to the finish line and a new personal record for Maui Wowi® franchisee David Beauchamp and his wife April at the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)® event held at the Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. This was David’s fourth year working the event and was actually the first contract he landed after becoming a Maui Wowi franchisee back in 2013. The contract allows him to work a variety of events at the raceway, including NASCAR®.
Many of the attendees at the NHRA event were repeat customers who know Maui Wowi from David’s other events at the venue.
“We have recently gained a big loyal customer base that is made up of returning customers from last year’s event, as well as from other previous events at the track,” said David. “A good portion of these returning customers are buying our ‘smoothies that party,’ which are a bigger ticket item.”
This year, David had one cart located underneath the grandstands. There, he served freshly blended smoothies and smoothies that party, containing alcohol.
David said his favorite part about working this event is the people. “It’s really exciting to see returning customers and hear their stories and get to catch up for a little bit while they’re in line,” he said.
Aside from that, David and April managed to set a new personal record with their single highest sales day. They were also able to beat their goal for the entire event with just one cart!
On top of it all, Regional Director of Operations Tracy Timko came out to support them at the event. “Tracy was fantastic!” said David. “She had so many tips/suggestions to make things run smoothly and to keep the customers happy. She is very energetic and knowledgeable about the industry and I look forward to working with her more.”
David’s experience is a great example for franchisees to see that every year and every event is a chance to set a new goal and achieve a new personal record. Making small adjustments can lead to big returns. Whether you own one cart or 12 carts, work with a team of employees or just your spouse, as long as you offer quality products, take advantage of the resources and support offered to you as a Maui Wowi franchisee, and maintain excellent relationships with your customers and venue, the sky’s the limit for what you can achieve.
